Who we are

Natural Worlds is an interdisciplinary practice working at the intersection of ecology, archaeology, environmental history, and digital visualisation.

We combine scientific research with advanced 3D workflows to reconstruct landscapes with a high degree of geographical, ecological, and historical accuracy. Our work is grounded in field data, peer-reviewed literature, and climate modelling, ensuring that every environment we create is both visually compelling and scientifically defensible.

We translate complex environmental information into clear, immersive outputs supporting communication, decision-making, and public engagement.

At its core, Natural Worlds is driven by a simple idea: that seeing landscapes as they were, and as they could be, can fundamentally change how people understand and value the natural world.

Ben Teele

Ben has a background in history, archaeology, and botany. He has worked as a professional archaeologist in a range of environments internationally, and recently completed a PhD focused on the ecology of dryland forests in inland New Zealand.

His work sits at the intersection of environmental history and ecology, with a particular interest in how landscapes have changed over time, and how they may change in the future. Through Natural Worlds, he brings together scientific research and 3D datasets to reconstruct landscapes with ecological and historical accuracy.

He is particularly interested in using visual storytelling to make complex environmental processes more accessible, and to help people better understand and engage with the natural world.

Ben holds a BA(Hons) and MA from the University of Otago.

Rebecca Teele

Rebecca is a terrestrial ecologist with over twelve years’ experience spanning ecological assessment, monitoring, restoration planning, and conservation management across both public and private sectors.

At Natural Worlds, she translates ecological data and project objectives into clear technical briefs, overseeing delivery and review to maintain scientific integrity and decision-making value. Her background provides clients with confidence that visualisations are not only compelling, but grounded in sound ecological reasoning.

Rebecca holds a BSc and MSc from the University of Otago. She is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP), a member of the New Zealand Ecological Society and Birds New Zealand, and a Trustee of the Routeburn Dart Wildlife Trust.
